Description
As a photographer who greatly enjoys taking pictures of birds and wildlife, I had become very frustrated about the fact that I had been in this profession for three years and never had the opportunity to meet an owl face to face. It was not for lack of trying! I often scoured the areas where fellow photographers had seen these marvelous birds, but always came up short. Finally one morning, I just happened to be at the right place at the right time and found this beautiful barred owl sitting above a creek in Cades Cove. I watched her for quite a while and she didn't seem spooked by my presence as she concentrated on the task at hand. Finally she swooped down and grabbed a frog from the creek and then took off down the road a ways. I thought if I could keep up with her I might be able to get some images of her enjoying her breakfast, but things got even better than that as she led me to her two owlets patiently waiting high in a pine tree. What a morning!
