While in South Africa, it was so common to see abundant stands of birds of paradise plants in full bloom, and because I don't often see them growing in my home area, I found them fascinating. These beauties make quite a statement with their angular, colorful blooms, so vibrant and containing all four of the basic primary colors...red, yellow, green, and blue. They're tropical and exotic in my book, so I found myself taking a lot of bird of paradise pictures. This image has minimal digital enhancement to give it a softer, more artistic appearance.

Simply put, I LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES. I found this love later in life than many do, after raising my family and enjoying a career in education, both as a teacher and school administrator. Currently, much of my time revolves around travel and photography, and when I'm not traveling and taking pictures, I'm thinking about traveling and taking pictures! The Tennessee valley is my home, so I am surrounded by some of the most scenic areas of the United States with the added bonus of plentiful wildlife and birds...literally paradise for a photographer!
