Description
For years I had wanted to visit Yellowstone National Park in the winter season. It seemed so hard, so cold, and so forbidding when I thought about actually doing it. However, I recently had the opportunity to join a photography group for a week in Yellowstone during January. Somehow knowing that others would be suffering the bone chilling temperatures and navigating the snowy, slippery roads right along with me gave me the confidence to go ahead and take the plunge. It was fabulous, and I'm already wanting to return next year! This handsome bull moose was just one of a great amount of wildlife that we saw and photographed on this adventure. I love the image of him trudging uphill in deep snow and glancing my way for just a second. He was eyeing the willow trees at the top of the hill and hoping for a tasty winter breakfast as we caught him in the act.

Our timing was just right on this guy. We saw him on the other side of the road as we were going east. He was down in a deep ravine, and we had no shot there. We decided to go on down the road, see if we saw any other moose, and turn around. On the way back, we spotted him crossing the road a ways ahead of us, so we quickly moved into position and got him going up the bank.. It was great!
