Description
It was our last evening in Paris, and we had just finished a wonderful dinner where my adventurous husband had tried escargot. We were unsure about what we wanted to do on our last night before returning to our hotel to pack up and be ready to depart by train early the next day. Since we were fairly near Notre Dame and the sunset was coming quickly, we made the decision to spend the golden hour there, so we began walking from the restaurant to the cathedral. Just as we were approaching Notre Dame, I looked to the right and saw the golden light of the sinking sun hitting this pedestrian bridge across the Seine. Pausing for a moment, I took this shot before moving on. As I looked back at the image later, I realized that it really captured the essence of Paris during this time of day...tourists and locals just out enjoying the fabulous city, relaxing along the iconic river, taking a boat tour, strolling the streets. When I look at this photo now, I fondly remember this evening and the realiation that these people seem to have it figured out. We don't need to be in such a hurry but rather take more time to pause, relfect, enjoy the end of the day, and generally have a much more relaxed approach to life.
