Description
The first time I saw a protea, the national flower of South Africa, I couldn't believe it was real. The very large colorful blooms with round centers and concentric spiky petals seemed so exotic, and I had never seen another flower anything like this. It was love at first sight for me! The protea was especially plentiful in the Cape Town area and the western side of the country, but we did see them less frequently in other places as we continued our tour of this amazing country. Just wish I could grow these beauties in my back yard in Tennessee.
